Final Project
It's All About the Food
This project went very fast I really enjoy salad and eat it nearly every other meal and I had decided what better than to make a set specifically for it. The bowl was a bit of a challenge to get its shape I had thrown it on the wheel and got a shape that was perfect only to discover upon drying to a leather hard state that it had shattered on the bottom and had to start again. The designs didn't come out as I had imagined and I origanally wanted to do glaze transfers all around the bowl of different components of a salad but I couldn't do it well and then all the glaze ended up smearing after I put on a clear glaze. The ranch bottle didn't come out to perfection but it works. The designs I planned ended up being a bit too complex and I did it a bitr simpler. I knew I wanted a yellow color but the stripe of white didn't show through the yellow color. My favorite part was the salad plate shaped like a leaf, because it is an organic shape it wasn't too hard to form and the coloring was just about what I imagined, I had wanted a brown stem and the obvious green of the leaf itself. Overall this project was a lot of fun and there were very little difficulty.
Alebrijes
For my project I decided that I wanted my creation to have the body of a seahorse, the head of a mantis, some cthulu wings, lobster claws, and some slithery octopus tentacles. This was really fun to plan out and even more fun to figure out how to make it real, it came out easily enough but I had troubles imagining the tentacles so it kinda looks more like a cape. I had difficulty getting the right paint job so I repainted it a few times until I got a desired result. I realy like the back colors and I tried to get the front to look that way but couldn't replicate it on the other side.

Slab Box
Coil Pot
This is the basic shape and design of my coil pot. I have yet to decide on a color pattern but I am sure it will be colorful and intricate.
The pot has been bisque fired and I decided on a black glaze as a sort of primer and then used different colors of glazes on the areas that were designed for it. Around the blank spaces of black I decided they were a bit too bland and flicked glaze onto the peice.
Glaze Transfer
I have figured out my pattern and have decided to use three colors: yellow, purple, and green. I have applied the first two colors to the positive blanks and will make the negative of the blanks green. when finished all the colors should complement each other nicely.
The glaze has been transferred to the clay and came out nicely. The next step is to wait for them to completely dry and stick them in the kilm.
The tiles are very colorful after coming out of the kilm the camera can't pick this up very well but it's okay. I'm very happy with the results.
Pinch pot project
First try on my pinch pot got too wet and decided to cave in on itself.
My next approach involved less water. WHen I finished I decided A purple underglaze would look best and decided on an abstract pattern.
This is the final look of the pot after the kilm firing. It didn't turn out how i wanted it exactly but the cause was the underglaze I used was too watered down causing the white areas.
I recoated the glaze with a slightly darker color which was less watered down and cut down on the number of white spots. This is the final version of my pinch pot and it turned out great!
